REGISTRATION CLOSING SOON FOR ADHD STREAMING SESSION (Sept. 19, 2013)

Be sure to register as soon as possible for ADHD Goes to Work: Managing ADHD in the Workplace, a free, live streaming CME session at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26. This event, held in conjunction with the AAFP Scientific Assembly, is worth 1.5 CME credits, but registration closes Wednesday, Sept. 25 at noon.

CORBETT PROPOSES MEDICAID EXPANSION ALTERNATIVE (Sept. 17, 2013)

Gov. YOUTH OBESITY EPIDEMIC SHOWS ENCOURAGING IMPROVEMENT (Sept. 16, 2013)

HEALTH CARE DATA HUB READY: IS IT SECURE? (Sept. 12, 2013)

The health care data hub at the center of the Affordable Care Act's (ACA) online insurance exchanges (also known as "marketplaces") is ready for launch. But, as the Washington Times reports, some are concerned that it's not secure enough to house the data that will help determine a patient's eligibility. Read more here.

POLL: YOUNG AND HEALTHY MAY BUOY OBAMACARE (Sept. 10, 2013)

Healthy young adults may be the buoy keeping Obamacare afloat, reports Reuters. A new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows the promise of coverage may attract enough of the young and healthy to offset the costs of those who are sicker. Half of the uninsured 18-to-34 set support the law; just four in 10 do overall. Click here for more.
 
STUDY: MOST BREAST CANCER DEATHS OCCUR IN YOUNGER WOMEN (Sept. 9, 2013)

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, and the second deadliest. According to U.S. News & World Report, new research shows that most of those deaths occur in younger, unscreened women. PAFP APPLAUDS INTRODUCTION OF PCMH BILLS (Sept. 5, 2013)

State Sen. Judy Schwank (D-Berks) and state Rep. Matt Baker (R-Tioga) have filed Senate Bill 1083 and House Bill 1655, which would establish the "Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Advisory Council" to advance a physician-led PCMH care model in Pennsylvania.
