| Collaboration. Partnership. Friendship... |
Whatever you call it, a relationship between your organization and the PAFP Foundation around a public health issue benefits your organization, family medicine and, most importantly, patients. Relationships can be formal (like a grant or contract) or informal. Let’s talk about the issues that are important to your organization.

Where Public Health Fits into the PAFP The PAFP is the professional association for family physicians, representing more than 75% of all family physicians in the Commonwealth with about 70% of members in office-based practices.
The PAFP, the third largest state chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians, also serves family medicine residents and medical students interested in this specialty.
The PAFP (a 501C6) and its Foundation (a 501C3) advocate for family medicine and provide high-quality, primary care focused continuing medical education programs.
The Public Health Initiatives Department serves both those goals. For example, the PAFP worked with organizations such as the American Cancer Society and American Heart Assocation to support the passage of clean indoor air legislation into law. The PAFP is also working with the American Cancer Society on a colorectal cancer screening initiative to educate family physicians about new screen guidelines.
