Budget Proposal Includes Primary Care Increase
|
|
On Feb. 4, Gov. Tom Corbett released his proposed 2014-15 budget. The proposal included a 109 percent increase in the primary health care practitioner line item within the Pa. Dept. of Health’s budget. Created by statute in 1992, this funding covers several programs devoted to health care infrastructure, including a loan repayment program. Part of the proposed increase to funding would expand family medicine residency training opportunities for physicians who seek to serve rural and underserved communities in Pennsylvania.

Quality Improvement
New EHR Attestation Deadline: March 31, 2014 |
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is extending the deadline for eligible professionals to attest to meaningful use for the Medicare EHR Incentive Program 2013 reporting year from 11:59 p.m. on February 28, 2014 to 11:59 p.m. March 31, 2014.
In addition, CMS is offering assistance to eligible hospitals who may have experienced difficulty attesting to submit their attestation retroactively and avoid the 2015 payment adjustment. This extension will allow more time for providers to submit their meaningful use data and receive an incentive payment for the 2013 program year, as well as avoid the 2015 payment adjustment.
