Patients with egg allergies may get flu shot Dec. 19, 2017
In years past, patients with egg allergies were encouraged to explore egg-free flu vaccination options, as most flu vaccines in use are manufactured using chicken eggs. Now, CNN reports, recent studies have found the flu shot is safe even for patients with severe egg allergies - and doctors recommend they get it. |

Deaths during opioid-driven hospital stays quadruple Dec. 6, 2017
Opioid-driven deaths during patient hospital stays increased fourfold between 1993 and 2014 - rising from .43 percent pre-2000 to more than 2 percent. According to PBS Newshour, although the rate of opioid dependency tapered during this time span, opioid or heroin poisoning diagnoses rose sharply. |

This season's flu shot may be a bad match Dec. 5, 2017
Recently, health experts have warned that this flu season is shaping up to be a bad one - and unfortunately, the flu shot may not be very effective. Medscape reports a New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) study has determined that the H3N2 vaccine currently being used in the U.S. has just 10 percent efficacy. |
